27.9.2007 — Hlavní město Praha dnes vyvrátilo spekulace, že Oceanárium na Letenské pláni nevznikne. Důvody, proč se zahájení výstavby zdržuje již několik let, jsou dány především administrativní náročností celého projektu. Na záměru se však stále pracuje a australská společnost Underwater World Oceanarium (UWO) je připravena po skončení přípravného procesu projekt uskutečnit.

15.6.2020 — Prague Symphony Orchestra, also known as FOK, which stands for Film Opera Koncert, will hold a special concert in the Municipal House's Smetana Hall. The concert will be the orchestra's first after the coronavirus break and will take place at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, the 23rd of June. The orchestra will be directed by Pietari Inkinen. Sibelius' tone poem 'Finlandia' Op. 26 and Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 in E minor Op. 95 'From the New World' will be on the evening's programme. This is will Inkinen's final concert as chief conductor of FOK, with his typical combination of Finnish and Czech music.

7.6.2019 — From the 7th to the 9th of June, the traditional rowing race 'Pražské primátorky' will take place on the Vltava River with backing by the Mayor of the City of Prague. The most famous event of its kind in Prague, 'Pražské primátorky', was held for the first time in 1910, and has been held every year, with the exception of 1914 to 1918.

27.7.2010 — Jako hlavní host festivalu Sen letní noci v Praze vystoupí balkánský hudebník a skladatel Goran Bregovič s orchestrem. Festivalový program dnes představil přímo na Vltavě na lodi Nepomuk sám umělec spolu s pražským primátorem Pavlem Bémem. Pro účastníky byla připravena projížďka lodí a krátká zvuková zkouška.

The 'Art for the City' programme ('Umění pro město') will support the emergence of contemporary art in public spaces in the Czech capital.

12.7.2007 — Na dnešní tiskové konferenci k 7. ročníku soutěže Miss Deaf World 2007 se žádná z finalistek neobjevila. Dívky nechtějí být podle organizátorů před sobotním gala večerem nijak individuálně zvýhodněny. O křišťálovou korunku a další ceny bude soutěžit devatenáct uchazeček, mezi nimi i Češka Karolína Hyklová.

28.11.2019 — For the seventh time, Mittel Cinema Fest 2019 will bring the finest films from the Apennine Peninsula to audiences in Prague. A total of eight Italian films, along with a concert of film music, will take place in the Lucerna Cinema from the 28th of November to the 4th of December.

5.8.2019 — The international floorball tournament Czech Open 2019 will take place in thirteen halls across Prague from the 8th to the 11th of August. The tournament is not only for elite world teams, but also for amateur and junior teams. The 28th international floorball tournament is considered one of the largest and most prestigious in the world. The biggest stars regularly come to Prague for this event.

23.7.2020 — The large courtyard of the former barracks in Karlín in Prague is being used as an unusual open-air cinema for the second year. Summer cinema Kasárna Karlín (Karlín Barracks) screens classic movies both from the Czech Republic and abroad, as well as experimental films, from June to September.

26.9.2019 — RefuFest is a festival that creates space for people from all over the world to meet and express solidarity with refugees. Discover other cultures thanks to music, dance, theatre and other forms of cultural expression. The festival will take place in Invalidovna in Karlín in Prague on the 27th and 28th of September, while Thursday the 27th of September is reserved for schools.

22.9.2009 — Městská rada dnes zrušila s účinností ke dni 22. 9. 2009 komisi Rady hl. m. Prahy pro udělování grantů hl. m. Prahy v oblasti kultury a umění, zřídila komisi novou a jmenovala její členy.

29.10.2021 — Praha se v minulých dnech připojila k metropolím z celého světa, které se v rámci iniciativy Cities Race to Zero rozhodly omezit produkci svých emisí o polovinu. Potvrzuje tak odhodlání k naplňování vlastního Klimatického plánu hl. m. Prahy do roku 2030, který bude reprezentovat i na letošní Konferenci OSN o změně klimatu (COP26). Ta se uskuteční v příštích dvou týdnech ve skotském Glasgow.

19.5.2008 — Dnes, 19. května, u příležitosti pátého ročníku Světového dne hepatitid (World Hepatitis Awareness Day), startuje v Praze osvětová kampaň zaměřená na zamezení šíření nakažlivé a vysoce zákeřné žloutenky typu C, proti které neexistuje preventivní očkování. Informační kampaň bude probíhat dva dny; nad celou akcí převzal záštitu primátor hl. m. Prahy Pavel Bém.

12.5.2011 — Hlavní město Praha ve spolupráci se Zoo Praha uspořádá v sobotu 28. května již druhý ročník charitativní akce Běh pro gorily. Jedná se o akci zaměřenou na podporu goril ve volné přírodě. Stovky lidí v maskách těchto velkých lidoopů poběží od Pražského hradu na Staroměstské náměstí.

4.10.2007 — Náměstkyně primátora hl.m. Prahy Marie Kousalíková dnes přivítala v Brožíkově síni na Staroměstské radnici třicet finalistek soutěže Miss Europe Junior Open 2007 (Miss Europe & World Junior). Při této příležitosti si dívky z třiceti zemí světa vylosovaly svá soutěžní čísla pro finální galavečer, který se bude konat 20. října v Ostravě. Součástí slavnostního přijetí byla prohlídka historických sálů Staroměstské radnice.

23.10.2019 — A new exhibition, 'Russia. Timeless', is running in DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Holešovice in Prague until the 2nd of December. The exhibition introduces strong artistic opinions from contemporary Russia. "The exhibition shows the theme of timelessness over the past sixty years by artists of different generations and aesthetic beliefs. We want them to stand side by side and together, without categorising them as more or less important than each other. Each visitor can decide that for themselves and according to their own opinion," Tomáš Glanc, one of the exhibition's curators, said.

8.11.2019 — Old airplanes will be on display for the Open Day in Točná Airport, which the airport organises on the second Saturday of each month. This time, you can admire some new additions on Saturday, the 9th of November. You can also look forward to the take-off and landing of airplanes, weather permitting.

18.9.2020 — The National Gallery Prague hosts temporary graphic exhibitions in the Fair Trade Palace. One of them is an exhibition of a collection of drawings and prints by Karel Myslbek entitled 'The Silent Drama of Human Poverty', which takes place until the 8th of November. The National Gallery has rich and wide-ranging collection of graphics and drawings from various periods and styles. However, artworks on paper cannot be exhibited for a long time, so drawings and graphics are regularly presented in short-term exhibitions. The current exhibit in the Graphic Cabinet introduces the world of the gloomy but interesting Czech painter, Karel Myslbek.

5.11.2019 — This year's 23rd annual Strings of Autumn international music festival will bring several exceptional concerts. Once again, the festival's programme contains a mix of classical music, jazz, world-music, and projects that don't fit into a set genre. The festival in Prague will last until the 13th of November.

2.10.2020 — The 9th annual Film and Architecture festival, subtitled Hidden Stories, takes place from the 30th of September until the 7th of October. The themed film festival focusing on architecture takes place in several towns and cities in the Czech Republic. In Prague, the festival will screen twenty films about architecture, urbanism and design in the Světozor and CAMP cinemas. The screenings are supplemented by lectures and panel talks.

10.5.2007 — Dnes začal v pražském Kongresovém centru třídenní Světový tunelářský kongres (World Tunnel Congress 2007). Zaměření letošního WTC je „Podzemní prostor - čtvrtý rozměr velkoměst“. Tím se letošní kongres také hlásí k odkazu pražského WTC 1985, jehož tématem byly městské tunely.

25.11.2004 — Veletržní stánek Prahy získal letos v listopadu na veletrhu World Travel Market v Londýně mezi 5.500 vystavovateli opět nejvyšší ocenění. "Jedná se o zcela ojedinělý úspěch - kam paměť organizátorů veletrhu sahá, nestalo se, že by byla tato cena udělena dvakrát za sebou stejnému subjektu," řekl radní hl. m. Prahy RNDr. Igor Němec.

27.11.2007 — Rada hlavního města se rozhodla podpořit soutěž Miss neslyšící 2007, ze které vzešla naše reprezentantka pro Miss Deaf Word 2008, jedenadvacetiletá Michaela Theimerová z Ostravy Zábřehu. Již tradiční soutěž si klade za cíl obhajobu práv a zájmů neslyšících u nás i ve světě. Hlavní město na akci dá 250 tisíc korun.

23.9.2020 — The National Memorial on the Vítkov Hill hosts an exhibition 'We want to be free, we will be free!', which is dedicated to the establishment of the independent State of Latvia. The exhibition will be open in the Ceremonial Hall until the 4th of October.

30.11.2019 — Two exhibitions start in Smíchov cultural centre on the 27th of November. They are 'Manifesto' by an art collective called 'Class of Interpretation', and 'Inwald' by Ondřej Vicena.

25.11.2019 — On Saturday, the 14th of December 2019, the fourth annual charity Christmas Night Run will take place in the centre of Prague. This 5km-long race will start and finish in front of Rudolfinum at Palachovo Square. Both individual racers and teams can take part in the race, and as was the case in the previous years, there will be a special race for children.

2.12.2022 — Zástupci Prahy se zúčastnili světového veletrhu Smart City Expo World Congress v Barceloně. Mezi inovacemi přilákala pozornost návštěvníků především prezentace platformy Golemio, která analyzuje městská data pro další využití.

3.10.2014 — Mezinárodní hudební festival Struny podzimu v pondělí 6. října ve Státní opeře slavnostně otevře královna portugalského fada Mariza. Hvězda, díky níž si fado z Pyrenejského poloostrova podmanilo celý svět a zabydlelo se na velkých hudebních festivalech i v nejprestižnějších koncertních sálech, uhrane nádhernou barvou hlasu, hloubkou, noblesou i svou otevřeností. Fado znamená osud a jeho písně jsou plné stesku po lásce, moři a odloučení.

16.6.2019 — At the beginning of May, two rare Chacoan peccary piglets (called Wagner's peccary in Czech from their scientific name Catagonus wagner) were born in Prague Zoo. Now visitors can see them with their parents in outside enclosure at the top of the zoo. This is a great zoological event: the Chacoan peccary has existed since prehistoric times and was only known from archaeological evidence until the 1970s.

27.2.2019 — In the Arena Sparta Podvinný Mlýn in Vysočany in Prague, after two years, women will compete again in Judo for points to qualify for the Olympics at the European Open. The tournament is organised by the Czech Judo Union (Český svaz juda) and will take place on the 2nd of March 2019.

22.5.2006 — Pořadatelé největšího pražského festivalu, který se koná od 16. do 25.6. na pražských ostrovech, představili vedle hlavních hvězd skupin Placebo, Khaled, Medeski Martin & Wood další výjimečné interprety, kteří vystoupí letos na festivalu. Jsou jimi například africký rocker Rachid Taha, tuzemští Support Lesbiens, J.A.R. a Ecstasy of St. Theresa, ostrý ska ansámbl z New Yorku Fishbone, oblíbenci režiséra Tarantina Tito & Tarantula, další tuzemská perlička Čechomor, irští spolustrůjci Afro Celt Sound Systemu Iarla O´Lionaird a Michael McGoldrick, brazilský harmonikář Renato Borghetti, kultovní bluesman Lucky Peterson, jazzman a mimo jiné i syn slavného herce Kyle Eastwood, úspěšný jazzový projekt Dan Bárta & Illustratosphere, taneční -123 min a desítky dalších hudebních skupin z více než 20 zemí světa.

19.3.2009 — Pražský primátor se dnes večer zúčastnil slavnostního zakončení a předání cen festivalu Jeden svět, který hlavní město letos podpořilo částkou 1,8 milionu korun. Jeden svět je dnes největším filmovým festivalem o lidských právech v Evropě a jednou z nejvýznamnějších kulturních akcí v rámci Prahy a celé České republiky.
