Acropolis Palace hosts traditional Indian music concert
On the 18th of November, Lakha Khan, the greatest living musician of the sārangī, an Indian instrument, will perform at the Acropolis Palace. He will be accompanied by his son, who holds many music awards.
The unique concert with the Indian master and his precious instrument can be enjoyed in the Acropolis Palace’s large hall. The experience will certainly be exceptional, as artists who can play this unique instrument are becoming more and more rare.
Instrument with an unmistakable sound
The sārangī is a distinctive instrument of North Indian music that resembles the violin. It sounds like several instruments being played at once, and the hypnotic tone of the sārangī is reportedly the most accurate image of the Indian soul. It is said to most resemble the sound of the human voice.
The last master
Lakha Khan is a living legend. He comes from a family of traditional musicians in the village of Raneri in northern India. He has been playing music for more than half a century. He draws inspiration from the Rajasthan region in India, where the European Roma culture originates. His repertoire is quite wide. It ranges from classic to Sufi music to musical epics.
Khan performs with his son, who accompanies him on the Indian double-ended dholak drum.
