Christmas Is Coming to Prague

The Christmas markets in the center of Prague combine a festive atmosphere with history. The traditional Christmas decoration blends with decorations and accessories inspired by the famous personalities associated with Prague: Emperor Charles IV., Rudolf II, Rabi Löw, and Franz Kafka.

A 22-meter pine tree with traditional straw ornaments and ornaments inspired by historic stained glass along with several thousand lights dominate the Market on the Old City Square. Every day from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. visitors can view a two-minute show of the Christmas tree lightning with a musical accompaniment.

The Christmas tree on Wenceslas Square, which is traditionally artificial, is also lit regularly every day: every whole hour between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. Here as well, the lights animation is accompanied by music.

While the smaller markets on Wenceslas Square offer mainly sales booths with traditional Christmas goods and refreshments, visitors of the Old Town Square Market can additionally enjoy various attractions and cultural programs.

The Christmas markets on Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square will last until January 6, 2018.

Prague was nominated by the U.S. News & World Report among the top 10 most beautiful Christmas destinations in the world. You can support Prague with your voice here.
