Food Festival in Prague Botanical Garden
On the 13th and the 14th of July, Prague Botanical Garden invites you to a culinary weekend. Come to the Food Festival to taste unconventional delicacies, listen to good music and enjoy floral decorations!
A visit to the Prague Botanical Garden in Troja is always a great experience. This weekend, however, it will be even better thanks to the programme connecting modern cuisine with music and flower arrangements. To make a wonderful experience even better, Klára Eliška Muchnová, the manager of St. Claire’s Wine Shop, will pair wines from St. Claire’s Vineyard with the food on offer. We asked Jindřiška Hejtyková, the event’s producer, for more information.
Q: Can you tell us something about the connection of flowers and gastronomy that visitors can look forward to?
A: Saturday’s programme will include a cooking show by MarkétaHrubešová and florist Klára Franc Vavříková. Both ladies will have the same plant material at their disposal to simultaneously create culinary delights and beautiful floral arrangements.
Q: The festival attracts visitors with pizza cones and rolled ice cream. What other unusual specialties will the event offer?
A: There will also be Mexican and Peruvian cuisine, colourful burgers, French macarons, ‘řepánky’ - traditional sugar beet cakes from Haná, coffee with an image in the foam on top, lemonades from the Kerská lemonade factory, and much more.
Q: What would you personally recommend to visitors?
A: I would like to invite cooking enthusiasts to the show led by Lea Skálová, the finalist of the MasterChef competition. Our sommelier will pair wines from St. Claire’s Vineyard with her specialities.
Q: Those interested will also be able to try the extreme kitchen ‘Brouk natalíři’ (Beetle on the Plate). What delicacies shall we imagine under this name?
A: This is another show I would also like to invite visitors to, as it is a demonstration of the preparation of meals that include insects. Anyone interested will learn a lot of fascinating things and tips on how to prepare meals from insects in an original way. The show will conclude with a tasting of prepared meals. Those who have the courage and like to try new things should definitely not miss this show!
