Ticket sales for Dvořák’s Prague festival launched

Ticket sales for the 2009 Dvořák’s Prague, this classical musical festival’s second year that will take place from August 21 to September 4, 2009, were launched on Wednesday, March 11.

Tickets are available through online sales on the festival’s web site and, for the first time ever, in all Sazka sales points, where tickets can be purchased until the festival box office at the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra’s office in the Rudolfinum opens.

Potential festivalgoers may contact the festival’s office with requests for program information, sales points and means of sales.

This year, Dvořák’s Prague will offer 18 concerts and a number of social events. In addition to all the concerts taking place in the Dvořák Hall, Rudolfinum, one of the chamber series concerts will be held in the Wallenstein Palace in cooperation with the Czech Senate, and two concerts will take place in the hall of the Czech National Bank.

The festival’s artistic landscape is studded with a host of renowned names from the world stage. The current star of the musical sky, pianist Lang Lang, along with violinists Janine Jansen and Arabella Steinbacher, conductors Yan Pascal Tortelier, Paavo Järvi and Dmitry Kitajenko, compose just a small selection of the participating foreign artists.

In addition to the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the Czech classical music scene will be represented by violinist Pavel Šporcl and harpsichordist Monika Knoblochová, among others.
