The 14th RefuFest invites you to meet people from other cultures
RefuFest is a festival that creates space for people from all over the world to meet and express solidarity with refugees. Discover other cultures thanks to music, dance, theatre and other forms of cultural expression. The festival will take place in Invalidovna in Karlín in Prague on the 27th and 28th of September, while Thursday the 27th of September is reserved for schools.
The idea behind RefuFest is to show the public the culture and talents of migrants living in the Czech Republic. Every year, the festival aims to highlight the importance of the Czech population’s generally open attitude towards foreigners.
Great music, original workshops, tasty food from all over the world, and most importantly, the opportunity to meet people from different cultures living in the Czech Republic, is what the festival has to offer.
Concerts and performances
You can look forward to a unique once-off audio-visual performance by the composer and singer Petr Wajsar, the current holder of the Czech Lion Award for Music, which will consist of an interesting mix of electronic music and ethno.
Marwan Alsolaiman and Jiří Pělucha will play traditional Arabic instruments, and will play various styles of Arabic folk music, including Baladi, RaksSharki, Drum Solo, Tribal and Belly Dance.
You can also look forward to exhibitions, workshops, debates, film screenings, theatre performances and the essential children's corner.
Climate change
This year, the festival is devoted not only to refugees, but also to the topic of climate change. Fighting climate change is not only part of the activities on the programme, but is also part of the organisation of the event.
The festival aims to help the fight against climate change by reducing the use of disposable dishes, recycling, minimizing noise pollution by reducing decibel levels and promoting festival transport using public transport.
